What a Idaho set has to satisfy

Tell us the city or county in Idaho, the pool type and which drawings you need. Include any project checklist or review comments so the scope can address your specific submission.

Request a fixed-price quote for your plan set. The quote sets out the included drawings, revision allowance and estimated delivery date before work begins.

Plans are sealed by a Professional Engineer licensed in Idaho, who reviews the package and takes responsible charge before applying their seal.

Idaho pool permit requirements

The state-level rules your drawings are checked against. Cities and counties can add local amendments, so send the jurisdiction with your enquiry.

Residential code
2018 IRC with Idaho amendments (IDAPA 24.39.30), adopted statewide by the Idaho Building Code Board under Idaho Code 39-4109 and enforced by local jurisdictions that issue permits; a 2024 IRC update has been proposed but not yet enacted.
Pool barriers
No state pool barrier statute, and the Idaho amendments do not adopt IRC Appendix G or the ISPSC; barrier requirements are set by local ordinance.
Contractor licensing
Contractors must register (not license) with the Idaho Contractors Board under the Idaho Contractor Registration Act (Idaho Code Title 54, Chapter 52); there is no pool-specific state license.
Public pools
No current statewide rule: House Bill 202 (2025) removed state health district authority over public pools effective July 1, 2025, and some cities and counties now apply the Model Aquatic Health Code by local ordinance.
Engineer licensing
Idaho Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors (IPELS)
Questions

Frequently Asked

Which building code applies to a residential pool in Idaho?

Idaho adopts the 2018 IRC with state amendments statewide, but the amendments do not include IRC Appendix G or the ISPSC. Pool barrier, setback and permit rules come from the city or county building department where the pool is built.

Does Idaho still require state plan review for public pools?

No. House Bill 202 ended state-level public pool regulation on July 1, 2025. Some cities, such as Nampa, now apply the Model Aquatic Health Code by ordinance, and we design to the local requirement that applies to your site.

Are your Idaho pool plans sealed by a Idaho-licensed engineer?

Yes. A Professional Engineer licensed in Idaho reviews the package, takes responsible charge and applies their seal. You receive a submission-ready set for your Idaho jurisdiction.
